Just a minor note - I was not elected as Treasurer, but I am still acting as Treasurer until Dan Curtin and I can go to the bank together to change the signature cards.  There should also be another committee member listed on the accounts, in case Dan is not available to sign checks (Steve is on there with me).  It should not be the committee chair or the scoutmaster.

4)      Scouts with special needs would not necessarily participate in all aspects of scouting but a parent would be with the scout at all activities.

September 26 will be the Annual Planning Conference.

Official meetings will take place on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.  On the other Wednesdays, scout hall will be open for patrol meetings, etc.

Troop trailer:  should have brakes on trailer, leveling jacks.  Motion:  Authorize to spend up to $3,200 for a trailer (unanimous).

Change of Agenda

Tadd Benoit is working on obtaining Eagle rank.  Currently, he does not meet the activity requirement of participating in 1/3 of activities and ½ of all troop meetings.

Tadd has joined the Fire Dept. and a lot of his time is going there now.  Also, he is working and trying to get to scouting events.

Tadd is a senior at MHHS and turns 18 on April 1, 2008..

In 2004-2005, Tadd was SPL and had participated at approximately 90%.  He still needs to complete three merit badges.

Tadd commented that Eagle helps you get more prepared for life.  He is changing around his schedule to try to get to as many meetings and activities as possible..  He was a member of the wrestling team but has cut sports out of schedule.

To become a member of the fire house, he has to complete a firefighter class.  This class is being held for the next 2 ½ months on Saturdays and every Monday evening.

Tadd was told to do what he can to the best of his ability and that he is needed to inspire the next level of scouts.

Return to Agenda

5)      Scout master report:  Jacob had some inappropriate actions at summer camp.  What happened was clearly unacceptable.  Until January 1, 2008, Jacob can only attend an outdoor activity if a parent attends with him.

6)      Roundtable:  Roundtable news will not be out until next week.  Upcoming fall camporee, popcorn sales, upcoming adult training – Troop Committee Challenge to be held on November 15.

7)      a)  Fall Camporee:  Saratoga Spa State Park, $15.50 per person registration (total cost per person would be $35-$40).

b)      Stratton Mountain National Forest – limit of 8 people per site, possible date to attend October 12-14; send an advance party to obtain sites.

c)      Need adults to attend these events

d)      Annual Troop dinner will be held on March 8

e)      Spring Camporee:  Troop 53 would like to host the event.  Appears as another troop may be hosting this year.

8)      Advancement:  Tadd previously spoke on his behalf.  BOR for Dan Roth to be held on September 12 at 7p.m. at village hall.  Brett is held up on his project since the church has decided to relocate his project.  Matt has completed his project, but needs merit badges.  Ian needs forms to be signed off on.  Rob Shaw has earned the World Conservation Award.

9)      Troop finances:  Put $300 on council account.  Balance in savings account is $4,939.69 and checking is $2,283.37 as of September 9, 2007.

10)  Troop Registrations will be due by the first meeting in November (11/7)

Fees are as follows:  Boys Life $12; Registration $30 first scout, $25 each additional scout, $15 for adults.  Exceptions are:  charted organization representative, active military, and Fred Wolfe and Jan Spring

11)  Fundraising:

Popcorn: order forms will be handed out at September 19th meeting; forms are due back October 17, orders are due to Trails End November 2, popcorn pickup will be November 17, money will be due at December 5th meeting as it is due to Council on December 10th.   Incentives are the same as last year:  35% base commission, 38% with $150 average sales per scout, 40% with $175 average sales per scout.  The Troop will accept Civil Air Patrol orders and will forward the return the Troop receives to the Civil Air Patrol.

Annual Christmas Tree sales will be organized by Fred and Ged.  Last year the Troop ordered 140 trees, about 30 of Al’s trees and sold all 54 wreaths.  Plans for this year are to order 140 trees and 48 wreaths.  If more wreaths are needed, more can be ordered.

12)  End of meeting.
