100 Year Anniversary Celebration

2024 is a special year, Troop 53 turned 100 years old! The troop is planning a celebration for Memorial Day weekend that involves all current and former troop members.

Some details are still being decided upon, so check back to this page or the Centennial Celebration Facebook Group for the latest information.

Centennial Celebration

Current troop members and troop alumni are invited to the Maple Hill Tree Farm for a day of food, fun, and activities. There is also an option to camp overnight for both current troop members and alumni members.

Spouses and children of troop alumni are also welcome to attend.

• When: Saturday May 25th, 2024. Time TBD.
• Where: Maple Hill Trees. 937 Maple Hill Rd Castleton, NY 12033

Memorial Day Parade

Every year, the troop marches in the Castleton/Schodack Memorial day parade. This year, troop alumni are also welcome to march with the troop.

• Who: Current troop members and troop alumni.
• When: Memorial Day. Monday Math 27th, 2024. Meet at 9:30AM.
• Where: TBD, but most likely meeting at the corner of Boltwood Ave. and Benedict St.

Other ways to Celebrate

Not going to be in town Memorial Day? There are other ways to celebrate even from far away! The troop is also collecting photos all across the troop history, and adding them to this very website. If you have photos of past troop events, and are comfortable having photos added to this website, please fill out form located here: https://edit.bsatroop53.com/.

If you are an Eagle scout who got their award after 2009, please send a photo of yourself from around the time when you earned your Eagle Award if you are comfortable doing so. That way, it can be added to the Eagle Scout page on this website.
